FLARES are used to attract attention in the event of an emergency. We carry three types on Moksha, each having a separate function.

>> ROCKET FLARES travel several hundred feet into the air and come down slowly as a ball of super-bright phosphorous attached to a parachute to ensue the greatest chance of someone spotting it. They are used to attract the initial attention of an airplane or passing ship – usually still a long way off.

Smoke cannisters are also good for attracting the attention of airplanes passing overhead by letting off a steady stream of orange smoke for several minutes.

Once visual contact has been made, a red hand flare can be used for pin-pointing the whereabouts of a stricken craft, life raft or someone floating in the water.

For more information about flares, check out www.painswessex.com or email ‘PainsWessex Safety Systems’ at jcpains@aol.com or call (1) 561 883 1201.
