This unit – manufactured by Trimble Communications - allows the Moksha crew to receive and transmit email. Being specifically designed for marine applications, the Trimble Galaxy unit also has built in GPS, allowing the land based support crew to monitor Moksha’s progress on a day-to-day, or even hour-to-hour basis.

>> ONCE LOGGED ON, the unit ‘talks’ to one of four geostationary satellites positioned 26 miles above earth’s surface. Although more expensive than SSB (single side band radio) one of the big advantages is the unit will operate in any sea and/or atmospheric conditions*.

For more information about this system, look up www.trimble.com on the Internet or call (1) 408 481 8000.

*Each written character costs approximately 1 cent (USD) to send or receive.
