Jason
and friend Sher Dhillon from India pedaled Moksha nearly 2,000 nautical
miles from Mumbai across the Arabian Sea to Djibouti in NE Africa.
The crossing took 46 days.
Early
in the voyage they suffered a damaged rudder from colliding with
the wreckage of an unmarked sunken ship outside Mumbai harbour.
A third of the way through they almost ran out of water after all
their desalinator pumps failed - a passing ship provided enough
resupply for them to keep going. Then entering the Gulf of Aden
adverse currents and winds nearly pushed them onto notorious island
of Suqutra, off the Horn of Africa; one of the worst places in the
world for pirate attacks. Outside the Port of Aden they also had
a near colliision with a container ship.
