The goal of the expedition classroom is to deliver content curriculum designed to promote higher level thinking and cultural awareness through exploration. This interactive classroom engages students in stimulating activities; focusing on math, science and social studies.

Standards aligned lessons cover a variety of interdisciplinary skills which are compatible with existing grade level curriculum.

Participating classrooms interact with expedition members through weblogs to explore in realtime the Indonesian archipelago. Lesson activities from the field differentiate instruction, while content area extensions allow teachers to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Steeped in ancient cultures and historical significance, the study of Indonesia offers and exciting look into the old world, mixed with current events.
